Have you seen my Orion and Orion’s Belt constellation necklaces yet? I make all kinds of crystal constellation jewelry but there are quite a few new Orion pieces in my Etsy shop, luckystardreams.etsy.com .
Maybe you know that I make jewelry when I’m not painting or dancing. It’s exciting to hear positive feedback I’ve been getting lately. Since my shop, Lucky Star Dreams is experiencing record growth, I’ll stop keeping this “other” job a secret.
Tonight’s life drawing group meeting at the Ocean City Arts Center is on.
Happy 2018 to all!
Are you ready for a great painting night? We will reinstate the plan we had to cancel for December. Short-Haired Anne will be our model. She will be nude, but using props, and a theme of black, white and red. I am already intrigued. Anne is so good at making a painterly spectacle that we can be sure of a productive evening. So bring your paints and a good canvas to kick off the 2018 season!
Added bonus: See the lovely, and often narrative, work of Grace Zambelli who is showing at OCAC in January. (You can also meet her at the reception the following evening.)
Who’s in? RSVP deadline is Tuesday, January 9, 5pm.
All details are the same: OC Arts Center, 5pm – 8:45pm, $15 per session (exact change please), All mediums welcome except photography, Oil painters must clean up and dispose of terpinoid at home. We have chairs, and some easles. Artists bring everything else, including drawing board.
Newcomer? Direct questions to me via email, or *phone number* (comment if you want her number).
Can’t wait to get back to work!
Musing: What a gorgeous, severe-clear, pristine snowfall! Years ago, I would treasure days just such as this. It meant perfect viewing conditions at the old Barnes Foundation–in the upstairs room where the drawings and watercolors were, shimmering in their understated gold frames. I really miss that.
Here’s the Jersey Shore Ballroom Dance Club slideshow that played during the event.
Thanks for taking the time to look. Some of the photographs in this gallery are cropped automatically when zoomed. Please contact me if you’d like to see a better version of a picture that’s cropped funny… prints are available too.
If you enjoyed these photos and want to buy me a coffee, I’d do a little happy dance 🙂
In October, the Gateway Playhouse in Somers Point, New Jersey further expanded their support of the arts to include featuring the work of a new local visual artist each month. The artwork can be viewed prior to the shows and during intermission and is available for purchase.
So… it’s almost Halloween and I made this design that incorporates the holiday and west coast swing.
Like many creative souls, sometimes I wander off into visual projects that don’t necessarily happen at an easel. Here’s one.
Freelance design keeps me pretty busy and compliments that whole painterly rest thing pretty well. When I’m not painting, I dance socially, build websites, make jewelry, dabble in photography and take on all kinds of marketing projects.
A significant dance style in my current series of paintings on human connection is the addictive and slinky dance, west coast swing. It’s this gorgeous, stretchy, rhythmic conversation that’s an art in and of itself.
I’m kind of really excited to be doing the Stone Harbor Arts & Crafts Festival for the first time this weekend. Come look, bring friends and a coffee for me (just cream;) ), save me a dance, or just say hi.
Now that dance has made its way into my artwork, it seems somewhat appropriate to share this here.
I recently set up the Facebook group, Salty Dances at the southern Jersey Shore to provide dancers a place to connect and arrange impromptu meet-ups in beach towns between Atlantic City and Cape May, NJ. If you or someone you know are into social partner dancing, join the group and please add your friends.
Inspired by the group DanceAir, I thought it would be helpful to set up a place for dancers to arrange and share plans with other dancers who also might be in town. West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Blues, Fusion, Hustle, Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Zouk, Country, etc… all dance styles are invited.
Who doesn’t want to dance on vacation, right?!
The south Jersey Shore area offers so many excellent venues with great dance floors. Being a resort area, people come and go often which sometimes makes it challenging to find the other dancers down the shore. From outdoor concerts and band performances to open mic nights, nightlife venues, festivals and other events, the area has so much dance magic potential.
