Life Drawing in South Jersey

There’s a group of artists that get together and meet monthly for an evening of drawing from life.

Artist Statement

Jodee Clifford, 2004, Oil Painting: Green Sweater, Mixed Media

Exploring relationships through human form, body language, and connection.

(I use words as subject matter more often than a medium but for the purpose of having a statement and communication as people and Google do, here are a few words. )

Connection

Connection is my most recent work. Started in 2016, it’s a series of works exploring human connection through body language, touch, and gesture; communicating and connecting without words using improv lead-follow social dance.

Relationship

Everything in this world relates in one way or another.

Across all my projects and mediums, I’m fascinated with relationship and connection. Usually it’s some language-less intuition.

Figures on Clothes

Figures on Clothes was my first series of paintings starting c. 2003. To me, they’re about the relationship between clothing and nudity using the human form. I painted nude female figures directly onto the surface of stretched and prepared clothing as I would on primed canvas.

With art my intention is to evoke something, maybe feelings of connection in that another human gets excited about the same ideas.
