Cape May Milky Way

Oil on wood, 23×60″

The original oil painting on wood in a handmade frame is still available, though as of this post, it is not yet listed in my new gallery shop. It is, however, listed on Fine Art America – where you can directly purchase giclees, canvas prints, acrylic prints, metal prints, and prints on wood. Also available as a variety of gift items ranging from t-shirts, cell phone cases, face masks, and beach towels.

The gallery shop is where you can find originals. Fine Art America is where you can find my prints, and other items. I’m working hard to get as many available pieces photographed, described, and listed as quickly as possible. Some days require studio time. That’s where virtual studio tours and Venmo come in. Or Cashapp too. If you don’t already have an account, please use my code LLHMBKR when you sign up. We’ll both get $5.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions or to schedule a virtual studio tour.

Saltwater Veins I

Photography Prints

This is another oil painting recently added to Fine Art America. I finished it earlier this year.

It’s part of a shore surrealism series I’ve been thinking about since 2017. This year brought an unbelievable reality scene set for making a series of surreal paintings. It’s somewhat large at 48×60″.

The original is still available, though as of this post, it is not yet listed in my new gallery shop.

Saltwater Veins II

Art Prints

Recently added to Fine Art America, I finished this oil painting earlier this year.

It’s one of a shore surrealism series I’ve been thinking about since 2017. I only know the date because I recently flipped through an old appointment book before shredding it.

Back to the painting, 2020 brought the scenario and I got started on these things. It’s somewhat large at 48×60. The original is still available. Now prints are, too.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or to schedule a virtual studio tour.

First Impressions: Tamara

First Impression: Tamara, Oil painting on canvas First impressions.

This one was different in the sense that I showed up for one of the life drawing groups I draw with and the model was a woman I know and dance with! Tamara. She’s wonderful.

These first impression paintings are somewhat about how much information we fill in on our own from an initial meeting, exchange of energy, first impression. Overthinking.

In writing this post, I  found a raw and personal draft about this project from a year ago when these were just forming. I still haven’t gotten to the place where it feels appropriate to share it though. Maybe someday.

Anyway, I’ve been making slow paintings from quick croquis.  I worked from a 30 second gesture drawing here. There are some process shots in the gallery below too. If it’s not done, it’s close.

It was difficult to find a stopping point with this one, I know her and what she looks like. I suppose it’s kind of parallel to the sense of meeting some who has strong and familiar energy pull.

It doesn’t look like her.

Tamara is a fantastically creative woman. See what I’m talking about in her blog.

Completed in March of 2018, this personal painting is the first of some of my new work exploring relationships.

Figures on Clothes

Figures on Clothes was my first series of paintings starting c. 2003. To me, they began with the relationship between clothing and nudity using the human form explored between subject matter and material. I painted these nude female figures directly onto the surface of stretched and prepared clothing as I would on primed canvas.
